Helambu Circuit Trek is a short and easy trek in Nepal ideal for families and friends and is possible to conduct throughout the year except in the monsoon. Mid-September to Mid-December during fall and March to May during spring are the time of the year for Helambu trek. Day 01:

Arrival.  Our representative will welcome you at the arrival gate and then escort you to the hotel . Overnight.

Day 02:

Drive to Sundarijal and Trek to Chisapani (2300m) – 5 Hours. We drive to Sundarijal from Kathmandu for an hour in the north east of the valley. We then climb uphill through the Shivapuri National Park passing through several villages on the way. Few hours of walking will bring us to Chisapani. Chisapani offers you the wonderful views of different mountains. Overnight.

Day 03:

Trek from Chisopani to Kutumsang (2446m) – 7 Hours. From Chisapani, we continue trekking towards Kutumsang. We walk uphill and downhill this day. We pass through Gulbhanjyang which is the Sherpa, Tamang and Gurung settlement. Gulbhanjyang showcases the cultural aspects of the local ethnic people. From Gulbhanjyang, we head to Kutumsang crossing the jungle and terraced fields. Overnight.

Day 04:

Trek from Kutumsang to Tharepati (3650m) – 6 Hours. We climb up in a steep and eroded trail through the forest of rhododendron and fir from Kutumsang. As we reach Tharepati, we can witness the beautiful sunset in the Jugal Himal and Numbur Himal ranges in Solukhumbu and the awesome views of Helmbu Valley below. Overnight.

Day 05:

Trek from Tharepati to Tarkegyang (2560m) – 6 Hours. We descend down to Melamchi River today and cross the river to climb up to Tarkegyang through Sherpa settlements. Well, Tarkegyang is a beautiful Sherpa village with one of oldest and biggest Buddhist Monasteries. Overnight.

Day 06:

Trek from Tarkegyang to Sermathang (2610m) – 4 Hours. From Tarkegyang, our trail is going to be comparatively easier than the previous days as the trail goes through flat land with beautiful forests. We would eventually penetrate the village called Sermathang where you can visit some of the ancient monasteries in the region. Overnight.

Day 07:

Trek from Sermathang to Melamchi Pul Bazaar – 4 Hours. Today, we gradually descend all the way to Melamchi Pul Bazaar through the meadows and cultivated fields. We come across several villages en route and would also interact with local people. You will get to know about their way of life and cultural glimpses. Overnight.

Day 08:

Drive from Melamchi Pul Bazaar to Kathmandu. After having breakfast in the morning, we travel along a bumpy gravel road from Melamchi Pul Bazaar to Lamidanda and then follow the metaled road up to Kathmandu. On reaching Kathmandu, you can go for last minute shopping. Overnight.

Day 09:

Departure. You’ll be transferred to airport for your onward journey. End of Service.

Do I need previous hiking experience required to go on a trek?
If you are physically fit and have extra Exercise enough enthusiasm for the trip previous experience is not required.

Could I trek without a guide?
You could, the area is very safe and in most cases navigation is relatively easy-however with a guide you will get more out of the experience. Having someone with you that knows the local customs and language helps you interact with people you meet in remote villages, and shows that you respect their culture.

What will happen if I get sick on the trek?
Either you will get better, or if it seems serious we will evacuate you with Helicopter and will be taken to Hospital in Kathmandu where you’ll get excellent attention. Our crew is well versed in medical and emergency care and carry a reasonably comprehensive first aid kit.

What will happen if I get injured?
If it is serious (this has never happened). You will again be taken care by our staff. If evacuation is required, this will be arranged by Visit Nepal tour. Will I get sick?
Not likely. The worst is you may get some diarrhea or temporary stomach upset. Please look our staying healthy during holiday topic for details. Follow the health advice given in our briefings during welcome dinner and you’ll be fine.

What is the food like on the trek?
Fantastic! If you haven't already tried Dal Bhat you are in for a treat - there is nothing better to fill that trekking appetite. Dal Bhat is the signature Nepali dish - rice and lentil soup served with two types of curried vegetables and pickles. It is on the menu in every tea-house on the trek. A nice breakfast specialty you might also want to try is Tibetan Gurung bread with honey. The mountain tea houses will also serve up more familiar western dishes like pizza, or muesli for the morning

Is there a problem with altitude sickness?
For our tours/treks below 4000m, there is little likelihood of being subject to altitude sickness, unless you are taking one of our more extreme adventure tours. Kathmandu rests at an altitude of only 1350-m (4430ft) and at this altitude there is no likelihood of altitude related sickness.

We’ll be advising you well in advance if altitude is an issue. Our tours/treks above 4000m do require acclimatization periods and any of our tours needing acclimatization has it built into the itinerary and that comes from 13 years of experience and the best medical advice...
